This grass seed mix is ​​specially designed to thrive in areas with trees or hedges that can create shade. A 5kg frp is enough for 200 m2.

Description

Shadow is the absolute best alternative for lawns with many shady locations. Forms a winter-hardy and drought-resistant lawn.

Garden type

Sheep fescue becomes the dominant species on the lighter parts of the lawn and sedge on the shadier parts. Creates a very dense lawn, so expect vertical mowing to be needed a little more often.

Suitable for sowing throughout the country and specifically for lawns with a lot of shade or with lighter sand/gravel soil

Tips & Advice

For a successful grass establishment, basic fertilization is very important. For sandy soil, we recommend NPK 11-5-18, 10 kg/100 sq m and for topsoil 5 kg/100 sq m. After the grass is established, you should fertilize at least 3 times/year with e.g. NPK 20-3-9 or NPK 15-2-5 +10Fe. Irrigation is also very important, we recommend approx. 30 min/watering point, 2 – 3 times/day. Water the first 8 days after sowing.

Contents & properties

Contains: 50% fennel and 50% sheep fescue. 15% Marsh groat (Poa trivialis). Fast-established grass that belongs to the most shade-tolerant grass species. Copes with low cutting heights and thrives in a moist environment. 85% Sheep fescue (Festuca ovina). An extremely drought-resistant grass species that is low-growing and grows well even on lighter sandy and gravelly soil. Slightly stiffer leaves than, for example, red fescue. Also used as a joint grass in rock formations as it prefers lean conditions.
