Magnesium anode for Compact-E 150, Compact-E 200. R20 L=570mm
The water heater has an internal corrosion protection of enamel. The enamel has microscopic pores which sometimes reach all the way to the steel vessel. Therefore, to prevent corrosion in the vessel, an anode must be fitted. This is consumed at a rate that depends on the nature of the water and the operating temperature of the water heater. The higher the temperature of the water, the greater the consumption.
Check the anode within one year. Thereafter regularly in relation to its consumption. When the anode is new, it has a diameter of about 21 mm. When its diameter has decreased (in the most consumed place) to less than 10 mm, the anode is consumed and must be replaced. If you have largely unchanged hot water consumption and operating temperature, you can already at its first inspection of the anode reasonably assess its service life. Since the consumption will take place at the same rate as before, the appropriate time for the subsequent inspection can be estimated. If no anode consumption has occurred after any year, this may be due to poor conductivity in the water and a water analysis is recommended.
